Sodium hyaluronate is a finely dispersed white powder, and by its chemical structure it is the sodium salt of hyaluronic acid, the main component of the extracellular matrix of mammals. Hyaluronic acid, (C14H21NO11) n - organic compound, group of non-sulfated glucoseaminoglycans. The hyaluronic acid molecule is built of repeating fragments of D-glucuronic acid and N-acetyl-D-glucosamine, linked by a β- (1-3) glycosidic bond. Hyaluronic acid is an anionic linear polysaccharide with different molecular weight, which depends on the method of production, and, due to the absence of isomerism, the resulting hyaluronate is always chemically identical to the standard one. The acidic properties of hyaluronate make it possible to obtain water-soluble salts with alkali metals. Hyaluronic acid solutions 1-4% form pseudogels of a strong gel structure with a high water content.
