For the production of this product, pomegranate fruits are used. To prepare a dry pomegranate extract, the peel and internal partitions of the fruit are crushed, extracted with water, the resulting liquid extract is settled, purified and concentrated, then the thick extract is dried. Dry pomegranate extract contains a total of extractive substances from the peel of pomegranate fruits, represented mainly by tannins, among which ellagic acid, a low molecular weight phenolic compound, predominates. Pomegranate extract contains polyphenols and flavonoids. Also, pomegranate fruits are rich in iron and other minerals, vitamins and organic acids.

The extract is a finely dispersed brown powder obtained by the method of aqueous-alcoholic extraction from the fruits of the pharmacopoeial species of hawthorn (Crataegus).
Plants of the hawthorn genus belong to the Rosaceae family and are large shrubs or trees up to 5 m in height, with straight or curved shoots, usually with thick, straight thorns. Leaves are simple, petiolate, pinnately separated, usually toothed. The flowers are white, collected in corymbose inflorescences. The fruit is a drupe, usually red, less often yellow, with 1-5 seeds.
Hawthorn fruits contain flavonoids (quercetin, hyperoside, etc.), oxycinnamic (coffee and chlorogenic) and triterpene (ursolic and oleanolic) acids.
